Carl, Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project
Not long after An Inconvenient Truth was released in 2006, a reporter asked Al Gore what he was going to do next. He thought for a second, and replied, “I’m going to train 1000 people to present the slideshow!” Carl Duivenvoorden was listening.
Soon after, Mr. Gore established the Climate Reality Project.
“I was privileged to be part of ‘Class 6’ in Nashville in April 2007, organized by Climate Reality and led by Mr. Gore. It was life-changing. I came home and took a leave from my job. A year and over 100 presentations later, I never went back.”

Headquartered in Washington, the Climate Reality Project now has 10 branches around the world, and has trained over 20,000 people from over 150 countries. Carl has been a featured speaker at training sessions in Toronto and Houston, and has served as a Mentor at several others. He has participated in 24 Hours of Reality, Mr. Gore’s annual climate awareness webcast, three times, from New Brunswick, New York and Greenland.
